preventative measures regular vacuuming immediate spill removal intermediate maintenance periodic cleaning
Heavier traffic areas will be subjected to soiling more quickly than more remote areas. Systems maintenance should include regularl cleaning of these areas, so that scheduled full scale cleaning of the entire installation will be more effective and aesthetically pleasing.

Selective area cleaning can be accomplished by using an impregnated absorbent powder that is brushed deep into the pile. The powder usually requires approximately 30 - 45 minutes to absorb any soiled material, at which time the dry compound and dirt are removed by vacuuming. When conscientiously used, this system can delay period wet cleaning, sometimes indefinitely.

Another cleaning method that can be targeted on specific areas is the application of a fabric bonnet, either impregnated with shampoo, or used with spread foam on a rotary brush machine. This can ONLY be used for surface cleaning on loop pile carpets. This system is not recommended for cut pile carpets because of pile distortion and texture loss.
