Installation guidelines for broadloom patterned carpet
Site

Preparation

Each subfloor must be inspected to ensure that it is clean, dry, and free of drywall dust, sawdust or other debris. Concrete floors must have all deep cracks filled. Optimum installation temperatures arange between 65 degrees and 95 degrees F, and humidity between 10 and 65%. The use of exahust fans to ensure adequate ventilation is strongly recommended. This should be maintained for at least 48 - 72 hous after installation so that any residual odors can dissipate.
Carpet

Inspection

Carpet should be unrolled a couple of days prior to installation so as to minimize wrinkles and buckling. After unrolling carpet, a thorough examination should take place. Any visual defects should be noted and the supplier contacted immediately, as the mills will usually not honor claims on product that has been cut or installed.
Roll

Sequences

Roll sequence MUST be followed. Ensure carpet pile runs in the same direction. Check pattern lengths prior to making cuts, and install the longest cuts first, so that shorter patterns can be stretched to match longer ones if necesary.
Seam

Sealers

Direct glue seams require a solvent based sealer. For hot melt seams, use a latex or acrylic based seam sealer.
Room

Layout

Check installation area for squareness. A laser square is useful for this purpose. Install carpet using these guides so that patterns can be aligned and square across the room.
Post

Installation

Foot traffic should be minimized for 24 hours after installation.
